“Glass+” – A Lecture Series on Glass and Everything Related to It

06/10/2026

Period: 7 October 2026 – 2 December 2026
Venue: University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague) / online

On 7 October 2026 at 2:00 p.m., a new lecture series entitled "Glass+" will be launched at UCT Prague with a presentation by Ing. Jaroslav Švácha from TGK.

The series is organised by the Department of Glass and Ceramics in cooperation with the Czech Glass Society and with the support of the Association of the Czech Glass and Ceramic Industry.

About the "Glass+" Series

As the name "Glass+" suggests, the lectures will not focus exclusively on glass as a material and on glass research. Their aim is to present a broad range of fields related to glass – from research, technologies and innovations in glass production, through the economic aspects of the glass industry, to design, architecture, archaeology and glass restoration.

The series is intended for professionals, students and anyone else interested in glass. Particular attention will be paid to the younger generation, whom we would like to show that glass is not merely a traditional material, but a fascinating field connecting natural sciences, technology, industry, art and history.

When and Where?

The lectures will take place during the winter and summer semesters, on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 p.m., in Lecture Room 2319, Building B (entrance from Zikova Street) at UCT Prague.

The lectures will be held in a hybrid format – everyone is welcome to attend either in person at the university or online.

The live stream and recordings of the lectures will be available via the link provided in the QR code on the invitations or via the online link provided below. The link will remain active only until the end of the respective semester.
